Deutschnofen / Nova Ponente is the biggest village in the community. It is situated at an altitude of 1,350 meters above sea-level, and affords a panoramic view of the high-altitude plateau and its surrounding forests and meadows. The surrounding chains of mountains form a natural amphitheater. In the east: Schlern/Sciliar, the Rose Garden and the Latemar, the UNESCO World Heritage site. In the south: the Zanggen, the Black Horn and the White Horn.
In the wintertime, the Latemar Ski Center (just 7 km away) boasts 48 km of well-groomed pistes and offers superb conditions for skiing and snowboarding. Deutschnofen / Nova Ponente and Obereggen are connected by shuttle buses which commute on an hourly basis. Deutschnofen / Nova Ponente is also a paradise for cross-country skiers. With 60 km of idyllic courses, cross-country skiers and nature lovers are sure to have a good time. In the village, itself, there is a practice slope for the youngsters, three toboggan courses, and countless winter hiking trails. The center of town offers a good assortment of shopping options, restaurants and inns, as well as a wide variety of services of private and public interest.
